2020 and the “quarantine kilo’s”… I’ve gained a lot of weight last year, time for a second attempt to lose it all again. Obesity is a tough battle, there’s no doubt about it, and sitting at home working doesn’t really help to combat this.
So yeah, time to lose (a lot) of weight again. I started the year at 140.2 kg. Next year I’d like to be under the 110. 30 kg in a year can be done, this averages out on 2.5 Kg a month (which is about 0,6 a week.)
Changes that I’m making
I have the following things that I’ve changed. (I’m already working on this at the time of writing.)
- No alcohol in January
- Low-carb diet.
- At least 30 minutes of activity each day, outside of the house.
These changes do not sound that radical, but they are for me. The low-carb diet is something that I haven’t been following for about 6 months now, it’s time to get back to that.
There have been entire weeks I’ve spent inside the house, because of the lock-down. This isn’t healthy and I really need to get out more. So that’s what I’m doing now. Last weekend I have made a trip on my bike of about 15 km, it was more effort than I expected. So time to get my condition back in order.
About the alcohol, this is also a carbohydrate and therefore increases weight gain with me. I think it is a good idea to stop alcohol use for a month, together with almost 30.000 others. First effects
The first kilo’s go the fastest. I’m at 137.4 today, which is 2.8 kg less than January 1st. So that’s 700 gram a day, which is not something that I’m going to keep up to the end of the year.
I expect after 4-5 kilo’s this will go slower. Once I’m at 115-ish (which is still like 20 kg to do) things will get to a stand-still for some time. Up to that time I’m planning on about 1 Kg/week. After this things will slow down (experience talking here). If I manage to get to the 120’s in February I’ll be very happy with that.
